Chapter 01 · The long way round

I started on Fiverr. Now I run engineering for a US studio.

My first clients came one gig at a time. I was a freelance web developer, then a Level One seller on Fiverr, learning that the job is less about code and more about keeping promises.

That habit took me from full-stack engineer to tech lead and architect. Today I’m Head of Engineering at Stay Gold in the US, and the founder of Devnito, a small engineering studio that builds for clients and ships its own products.

Most products don’t fail because of code. They fail because of decisions made too early. I try to get those decisions right, then build systems a team can actually live with.

Most of this came through two long partnerships: Stay Gold, where I lead engineering, and Bread & Butter, a design studio I’ve been engineering partner to for five years. The rest are products I build through Devnito, and teams that came to me directly. Every project is credited to where it came from.
